What is Grandfather-Father-Son Method
- Daily backup (son) are made over the course of a week.
- The earlier daily backup media are then rotated to reuse as backup media for the sequence weeks
- The final backup taken during the week become the backup of that week (father)
- The earlier weekly backup media are then rotated to reuse as backup media for the sequence months
- At the end of the month, the final weekly backup is retained as the backup for that month (grandfather)
